I’m Laura McCasland, owner, founder and lead planner of McArthur Weddings & Events.
Since college I’ve been helping friends and family get married. I was once invited to a wedding as a date and ended up passing out programs. Someone asked me who I was and I didn’t even know what to say except: “The girl passing out programs.” Even then, I found myself making the most of every opportunity to make someone’s special day run as smooth as possible. I have often pursued positions that sparked my interest or curiosity, finding myself in the worlds of photography, catering, and venue coordination.
After college, I moved from Iowa to Colorado, to pursue a teaching career and mountain views. People have often commented on how calm I seem on wedding days. I often attribute that to the level of patience, foresight, and depth of planning I learned from my time in the classroom. After I left the classroom, I continued to be passionate about building community and making people feel loved, known and honored. So, embracing my firm belief in life-long learning, I seized the opportunity to dig deeper into the business of supporting and coordinating weddings and events that draw people together. This has led me to my career as a wedding and event coordinator.
I love celebrating people! The unique quality of weddings, bringing people from all facets of a person’s life to one place at one time, brings me so much joy.
